You may have heard the word grace many times but do you really know what it means? The Bible speaks over and over again about grace. So, I have a few biblical definitions for you.
1. Grace is the freely given, unmerited favor and love of God.
2. Grace is a gift from God given to us through His Son, Jesus Christ.
3. Grace is God’s love in action.
It is very important to understand that grace cannot be earned. It is a free gift. Let me back this up with scripture. Romans 4:23-24 says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” We are all sinners. We all need grace, and it is only through Jesus. There is no other way. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by Grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Through faith in Christ Jesus, we are given the gift of grace. There is nothing we can do to earn it. Our good works should be in response to the grace given to us — to show our love for Him and to bring Him glory.
