We live in an imperfect world, and because of that, we all face loss. In recent weeks, it seems there has been so much loss throughout the world. Many people have lost their health, their lives, loved ones, freedoms, jobs and possessions. It can be very difficult to find hope in the midst of so much loss. It has all made me think of Job. When you are faced with loss of any kind, Job is a great book to read. Job faced unimaginable loss. All seven of his children died at the same time. His servants and livestock died. He lost his health, and his wife and friends turned against him. Job was a man of great faith in God but, he came to the point of wishing he had never been born. He questioned God. God reminded him that he does not know all things or understand all things but God does. If we forget Him or turn away from Him, we have no hope. We must trust Him in all things, in all circumstances. In the midst of his suffering, Job could not see what was ahead, but God could. At the end of the book of Job, we see that God restored Job and gave him twice as much as he had before. Job was more blessed in the end than he had been in the beginning. When you face troubles or losses of any kind, remember Job. Don’t turn away from God, but trust in Him to bring you through. You can’t see what blessings lie ahead, but He can.
