Have you ever felt like no one really knows you? Or do you worry that if anyone did know the “real you” then they wouldn’t love you? Well, guess what…. there is One who knows us better than we know  ourselves, and He loves us with a greater love than we can imagine. Let’s take Psalm 139: 1-4 verse by verse to discover just how well God knows us. In verse 1 it says, “O Lord, you have searched me and you know me.” So, not only do we find that God knows us but that He searched us. He wanted to know us. Verse 2 says, “You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.” This verse is a little scary because, with people, we can choose to hide part of who we are in our thoughts. We can choose not to share everything with everyone, or with anyone, but there is nothing we can hide from God. We can’t even hide our thoughts. Verse 3 says, “You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with my ways.” He knows everything that we do, everywhere we go. He knows our routines. There’s no place that you can hide from Him. The last verse we’re going to look at is verse 4, and it reads, “Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord.” He knows what we are going to say before we even say it. Wow! It’s terrifying to think that someone knows you that well and yet comforting at the same time. Because even though God knows every crazy, horrible thing that goes through our minds, even though He knows the things we say that should never cross our lips, He loves us. He wants a close, personal relationship with us. With the “real us”. Knowing this, you can feel free with Him, free to share your innermost thoughts and feelings.

You are known and you are loved.
