Galations 5:13 states, 'you, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge in the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love." Christians are called to be servants. The good thing is, there are endless ways to serve. We can start in our own homes by doing things for each other, not out of obligation, but out of love for one another. Think of the positive impact it would have on the home if instead of seeking to have our own needs met, we focused on serving.

There is a great opportunity for service within our churches. You might serve as a pastor, a deacon or a Sunday school teacher. You might serve on a committee or help with outreach. There are many areas of the church where volunteers are needed. Find your place of service within your home church. Serve in your community. Reach out to a neighbor in need. Volunteer at a local food bank or animal shelter. Pick up trash at your local park or along the road. Let’s make an impact on our communities. The Bible says in Mark 10:45, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Our Lord Jesus served others. He gave His life in service to us all. As followers of Christ, let us follow this example, and serve others.
