In everyone’s lifetime there will be many days of sorrow and hardship, for at the beginning of time Adam and Eve sinned and caused a new world to take shape. This world is full of sinful people and full of tragedies.  Lately, the United States has been no stranger to these events.  We have had many natural disasters and violence amongst the nation.

The best thing we can do is to bury ourselves in scripture and pray to God.  I have compiled a list of verses to provide some sort of comfort in the dark times.  Knowing God is always there and one day we will be face to face with our almighty Savior is the ultimate source of hope for Christians everywhere.  Please take the time to look these verses up in your Bible and spend some time really reading over them.  Pray for healing for our nation and for every soul that is lost or feeling hopeless.

4. John 14:27-28

27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

5. 1 Peter 5:8-9

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.

10. Lamentations 3:55-57

55 I called upon thy name, O Lord, out of the low dungeon.

56 Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.

57 Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.

11. Romans 12:17-19

17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

12. Psalm 147:3

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

13. Romans 12:21

14. Revelation 21:4

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

I am thankful for the scripture to help me through grieving times.  Please share as this could be the much-needed encouragement to someone who is hurting. The last verse from Revelation is a wonderful thought. No more pain, crying, sorrow, or death, only our Holy Savior who we will be with for eternity!
