During the Christmas season, many of us rush around trying to find the perfect gifts for our loved ones.  Some fight the crowds as early as Black Friday to try to get the best deals.  Sales appear everywhere and we flock to them with added coupons and our many cups of coffee to help us push through.  Some of us would rather stay at home, so we scour the internet for all of our presents and hope they are just as awesome in person as they are online.

Of course during this holiday hustle and bustle, we are easily distracted from the real reason we celebrate Christmas- Jesus’ Birthday.  In fact, it seems a little silly how much trouble we go to for each other when it really is not even a holiday to honor us!  Facebook is full of opinions, but one in particular is worth mentioning. A girl publically announced that she would not be buying presents for anyone this Christmas.  She did not want anyone buying her gifts either. Instead, she would do something for HIM. What will you and I do for HIM this Christmas?

While giving and receiving gifts this year, let us not forget that JESUS is God’s perfect gift to lost humanity. Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord,” illustrates how severe our punishment for sin is, yet because of Jesus we may be saved! If you have received the best gift of all, JESUS as your Savior, celebrate HIM! If you have never received the best gift of all, you can accept HIM today (read more) and celebrate Christmas like never before.
