The Spring of Hope

In Colossians 1, Paul says that faith and love spring from the hope of the gospel. This hope is more than a wishful thought. It is the certainty of salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Faith and love spring forth just as the buds of new life spring forth from the ground in early Spring. The fruits of new life are yet to come. For this reason, Paul gives thanks to God for these believers and the faith and fruit of the gospel message.

Love Your Neighbor

In Matthew 22:36-40, Jesus is asked which is the greatest of the commandments. He answers in 2 parts: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”

His Word Shall Stand Forever

“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Wow, what an amazing sentence. Regardless of how things around us change, God’s word will never fade. His promise to us is eternal. Isaiah 40:8 is a powerful verse that I often find myself coming back to for encouragement. A powerful illustration that we are able to use as a reminder as we look at God’s creation.

The Color of Love

The holiness of God is immeasurable. He is pure, righteous, perfect, and desires to have a relationship with mankind, created in His image. While in the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were able to live in true freedom and sweet relationship with God. In Genesis 3, sin separated them, and the punishment for sin was imputed. Because of the darkness and depravity of sin, a sacrifice of blood was then required for cleansing and atonement.
