The Great Commission

In what is known to Christians as “the great commission”, Jesus gives His followers instructions to go to action. He tells them to share the good news of salvation and to teach others about Him and all that He had commanded them. Once someone receives salvation through Christ Jesus, their work for His kingdom begins. We’re not to keep this great news to ourselves but to share it with others throughout the world.

He Lives

Have you ever tried to imagine what it would have been like to be present on the day Jesus was crucified? I have always imagined the darkness of a stormy day. I imagine crowds of people, dust in the air and extreme sorrow. I watched The Passion of the Christ when it came out in theaters and I have not been able to watch it again since. To see my perfect Jesus hanging in agony on the cross, for me, is heartbreaking. Thankfully, God didn’t end the story with the cross.

Spring to Life

Song of Solomon 2:11-13 says, “For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. The fig tree puts forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grapes give a good smell.”

The Spring of Hope

In Colossians 1, Paul says that faith and love spring from the hope of the gospel. This hope is more than a wishful thought. It is the certainty of salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Faith and love spring forth just as the buds of new life spring forth from the ground in early Spring. The fruits of new life are yet to come. For this reason, Paul gives thanks to God for these believers and the faith and fruit of the gospel message.
