In Colossians 1, Paul says that faith and love spring from the hope of the gospel. This hope is more than a wishful thought. It is the certainty of salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Faith and love spring forth just as the buds of new life spring forth from the ground in early Spring. The fruits of new life are yet to come. For this reason, Paul gives thanks to God for these believers and the faith and fruit of the gospel message.

Let us also give thanks for believers around the world and pray constantly that the riches of His glory may be revealed through the truth of the gospel to all people. May the light of Christ dwell in each of us richly so that others may see the fruit that springs from the hope within us.

"We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all God's people - the faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven and about which you have already heard in the true message of the gospel that has come to you. In the same way, the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world - just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God's grace."
