With Thanksgiving comes the event many people look forward to...BLACK FRIDAY. Chaos breaks loose on that day as crowds of people scramble to their favorite stores as early as possible to get the best deals. The irony is that just the day before we celebrate what we have to be thankful for.
I think of this verse in particular when thinking of fleeting earthly possessions; “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5. Things of this earth can’t go with us when we die, we need to focus on our heavenly father who is always there for us.
There is nothing wrong with shopping, just be sure not to become so overwhelmed with materialistic things that you miss out on thanking and worshipping our almighty Savior. This Thanksgiving be thankful for what God has given you and praise him for your blessings.
