Fatherhood can be tough and overwhelming at times. As fathers, we are never alone. Our heavenly father left us an entire book to use in order to grow spiritually in Him and to set an example as a Christian father to our children. I have highlighted some passages below that can be used as advice and encouragement in order to live a godly life as a father. Fathers can feel comforted knowing that God is with them every step of the way.

  1. “Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old.”

-Proverbs 23:22

  1. “The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.”

- Proverbs 23:24

  1. “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”

 -Ephesians 6:4

  1. “And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how the Lord thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.”

-Deuteronomy 1:31

  1. “He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.”

-  Proverbs 13:24

  1. “Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord they God chasteneth thee.”

-Deuteronomy 8:5

  1. “A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.”

-Proverbs 15:5

  1. “Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;”

- Deuteronomy 4:9

  1. “The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.”

 -Proverbs 20:7

  1. “Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”

-Matthew 7:9-11
