If you have been holding onto a grudge or have hatred towards anyone, 2017 can be the year you decide to let go.  Forgiveness can be a difficult task for almost all of us.  However, we are only hurting ourselves as we dwell over our animosity for one reason or another. Many of us experience a burden caused by our inability to forgive.

In Mark 11:25-26, he says “when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”   This New Year show how you are created in Christ's image through your actions of forgiveness. If Jesus can die for us even after betrayal and hatred, certainly we can forgive others.

Jesus provided a beautiful example of forgiveness while hanging on the cross of Calvary. In his suffering, he offered forgiveness (Luke 23:34). He accepted the punishment that we deserve and became the sacrifice of atonement for our sins. Praise God that He doesn't hold a grudge against us but offers forgiveness. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Urge each other to be positive this year.  Think of your blessings instead of your hardships. Praise God for overcoming obstacles, rather than focusing on hurdles you had to jump. When we come to Jesus in prayer, he blesses us. Remember if we treat others with kindness, we are already making a difference.  You never know what someone else may be going through.

This year consider becoming part of a Christian ministry and encouraging others to do the same as well.
